It’s Black History Month and there has never been a better time to circulate your dollars into black-owned businesses, many of which have been disproportionately affected by Covid-19.

There are plenty of ways you can support the Black community this month, and every month, such as donating toworthy organisations, joining protests, and educating yourself and your peers about racial injustices  … but we believe there is no faster way to give back than by shopping at Black-owned businesses.

To honor this month, we wanted to use our platform to celebrate some B.O.B’s we are currently OBSESSED with.

Honey Pot

First up is Honey Pot, a menstrual care company powered by herbs!

We love their 100% organic tampons … because who wants to be putting pesticides, chlorine, dioxins, or synthetic materials up their hoo-ha? Not us.

Better yet, check out their phthalate-free menstrual cups so you can wave buh-bye to waste for good.

They’ve also partnered with Happy Period, an organization that provides menstrual hygiene kits to those who are homeless, low income, or living in poverty. By purchasing their v cute vulva pins, you can give back some dignity to the most vulnerable people in our community.

Check them out! thehoneypot.co @thehoneypotco

Rocky Robinson

Next up we have Rocky Robinson, created to fill a much-needed gap in the market - products that are made especially for Black girls!

Rocky Robinson is so much more than a brand - she’s a character who is here to be a role model and trusted friend to young Black girls and their peers, and help them build their confidence, realise their talents, and love themselves no matter what (flaws and all!).

How beautiful is that?

Their deliciously scented lotions, shower gels and lip balms are sure to become a cult favourite with the kids.

Jentl

Stop the search! We’ve found the body butter to end all body butters.

If cashmere, clouds and whipped cream had a baby in a bottle, it would probably come with a Jentl label.

This handmade body cream has the power to totally transform your tired and weary skin and give you that soft buttery glow.

As tempting as it is, try not to eat it!

Glosshood

Ready for your lips to be quenched like they’ve never been quenched before? Then you have to check out Glosshood!

Their organic gloss/balm hybrid is the answer to our chapped-lipped prayers, and the hint of peppermint oil makes the experience tantalisingly tingly.

If nothing else, you have to check out their retro af website - it will take you back to the days of dial-up internet (in the best way possible).

It’s time to let your lobes do the talking with the most mesmerising accessories. If you like to stand out and make a statement, you’re in for a treat. Thrill Lobes are a handmade earring company that encourages you to go BOLD or go home.

Naclo Apparel

At least something good has come out of this pandemic! Naclo Apparel was born in quarantine, after founders Jamie and Chuck realised they didn’t pack enough clothes to stay at home as long as they needed to.

They figured out a way to creatively dress themselves by tapping into one of their favorite clothing modification techniques - bleach processing!

The result is a collection of unique clothing staples and cosy loungewear that you’ll never want to take off.

We recently had an awesome DM from a customer who wanted to know the answer to this question:

"What are the wages and working conditions like for the people who make your products?”

We are so glad you asked!
